Guest passes are available for a nominal fee.
Ferry and Tram Services
Your vacation begins the moment you step foot on the BHI-bound ferry! Guests travel to the Island on The Bald Head Island passenger ferry that departs Deep Pointe Marina. Weather permitting, the ferry runs on a set schedule. Tram service to and from the Marsh Harbour Inn is included in the price of your tickets. We look forward to seeing you!

For breathtaking views of BHI, climb the 108 steps to the top of North Carolina’s oldest lighthouse, Old Baldy, built in 1817
Take a self-tour or come for Sunday worship at the beautiful Bald Head Island Chapel where you will be mesmerized by the stunning marsh setting and quaint architecture.
Bald Head Island's tidal creeks are perfect for kayaking and paddle boarding. Don’t miss the opportunity to see an array of wildlife while enjoying the peaceful serenity of the marsh. Rentals are available through Riverside Adventure Company.
The Wildlife Overlook
Located on Stede Bonnet is a favorite stop for all. A variety of migratory birds including the Snowy Egret, White Heron, White Ibis, and Grand Egret are commonly spotted at dusk and roost there for the evening. It is common for over 50 birds until daybreak when they often depart in unison to embark on another day.
During the summer months, BHI Conservancy Members may join the award-winning Sea Turtle Protection team for a nightly Turtle Walk to learn about the extraordinary nesting process and hopefully catch a glimpse of a hatching!
Stargazing
BHI continues to make the yearly “best stargazing locations in NC” list. Due to the lack of light pollution thanks to the banning of artificial exterior lighting on beachfront homes, constellations, meteor showers, and the Milky Way can be seen regularly. Some think seeing a shooting star is a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence but it’s commonplace on the island. After dark head to the beach for a few amazing hours of stargazing.
